Biographies of the Carillonneurs



Amy Heebner Amy learned to play the carillon at Middlebury College where she was President of the Middlebury Carillonneurs.  She is currently a librarian at the New York State Library. 

Amy has been a carillonneur at Albany City Hall since 1995.  She is a board member, president and one of the founders of the Friends of the Albany City Carillon.  In addition to her weekly performances for the city, she also plays at special city events.  She has given concerts at various carillons in New York and New England.  Amy became a carillonneur member of the Guild of Carillonneurs of North America in 2000.  She is also a pianist and organist. 

Charles Semowich Charles Semowich plays the carillon at Albany City Hall in Albany, NY. He studied carillon at the University of Michigan. Mr. Semowich performed on the carillon for the inauguration of NY Governor George E. Pataki, on Jan 1., 1999. 

Mr. Semowich composes for the carillon as well. His piece, Fantasy for Carillon, has been performed on the Arvella Schuller Carillon at the Crystal Cathedral, and his Variations on Auld Lang Syne for carillon was published by Fenwick Parva Press. In addition, Mr. Semowich's composition for handbells was the prize winner at the 1987 Regina Bell Ringers Competition.
